Who You Are
Join our Data Analytics team at Verve, where you'll oversee the architecture supporting our ad exchanges' data, processing millions of requests per second at terabyte scale. You’ll ensure low-latency, cost-efficient data access and support engaging UI/UX experiences for BI, analytics, and data science applications.
Key responsibilities include feature development, performance tuning, and maintaining platform stability. Our mission is to enable "data-driven decisions at your fingertips," and you’ll play a pivotal role in providing the system for all business decisions. This hands-on role (70% engineering, 30% management) reports to the VP of Data Intelligence Platforms. You'll drive technology advancements while leading and mentoring your team.
What You Will Do
Lead and Manage
This role is 70% hands on, enhancing and supporting data analytics components
Lead and manage a team of on-site and remote engineers
Do performance reviews
Define team charter, budgets, and hiring plan
Domain
In this role, your main focus would be around data warehouses to provide users efficient insights into our ad tech platform
Ensure efficient and flexible data schema
Ensure engine performance and reliability
Efficient SQL-based transformations
Cost-efficient analytical solutions
Writing simple, understandable, testable, and efficient code with a focus on solid technical stability and great user experience
Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations in terms of security, and data privacy applied in the data processing layer
Defining and implementing security measures according to best practices
Collaborative Work
Work closely with product and reporting teams to provide accurate on-time and organize fast and easy access to them
Design end-to-end DWH solutions, working closely with the data processing and data science engineering teams
Ability to articulate business requirements and bridge the gap between development teams and stakeholders
Ability to present business and technical issues, ideas, and recommendations in verbal, written, and presentation formats using storytelling and logical arguments
Collaborate with teams across the globe in different time zones
Extend successful solutions and optimization to sister companies in Verve
Collaborating with stakeholders to understand project functional requirements and objectives from a data processing perspective
Job requirements
What You Will Bring
5+ years of experience working as a Data/DWH Engineer in industry is a must, where you have gained hands-on experience delivering DWH/OLAP solutions
3+ years of experience leading a small team of highly productive engineers
First experiences in managing individual contributors
Proven experience in owning the products and driving them to the end, all the way from gathering requirements, development, testing, and deployment to ensuring high availability post-deployment
OLAP engine (preferably Vertica, BigQuery), MPP engines(e.g Trino/Presto, Impala, ClickHouse), SQL (understanding plans, troubleshooting, window functions)
Druid
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field
Cloud platforms: preferably GCP
Programming languages: Python and/or JVM
Nice to have
BI tools (Looker, Tableau, AWS QuickSight, etc)
AdTech knowledge
ELT/ETL: DBT, Airflow (Apache NiFi)
Open-source committer/contributor / PMC in any of Apache big data open-source technologies
Exposure to Automation, and DevOps (Kubernetes, Jenkins CI/CD pipelines)
